Under the nom de plume Fair Witness, Ann Roy translated Zapatista documents, particularly the writings of Subcommandante Marcos, and attended conferences in rural communities and in several Mexican cities.

In the 1990’s, after living in Mexico for over 30 years, Ann Roy moved to San Miguel de Allende where she became involved with the Zapatista movement in Chiapas.
